You Are Enough

Something woke me this morning. Intuition was telling me to go to the greenhouse. So I put my coat on, loaded my pockets and grabbed my cup of coffee. I started up the kerosene heater, turned on some music and sat in my comfy chair with a blanket tossed across my lap. That’s when the message came across my phone. A patient I had spent a couple of hours with the day before… had passed. I wondered if I had prepared her enough. I wondered if I had prepared her family enough. Then I looked over, past the kerosene heater and into a neglected pot of aloe and cactus and there was the most beautiful and delicate pink bloom.

And she said, you are enough.
